Part of Telford & Wrekin Council's wider regeneration programme for Wellington town centre.
Spring 2025
Plans for a new beginning
Telford & Wrekin Council obtains planning consent for the demolition and redevelopment of the existing buildings at 2 Walker Street and 15 Duke Street. The original buildings had deteriorated over several years and were considered unsuitable for restoration. The redevelopment will provide modern ground-floor retail accommodation with four residential apartments above.
7 November 2025
Out with the old
Telford & Wrekin Council announces that demolition has begun at 2 Walker Street. The original building had stood empty for almost five years. Its removal marks the beginning of a major transformation of this prominent corner of Wellington town centre.
5 June 2026
Our next chapter takes shape
FRO begins detailed discussions with Telford & Wrekin Council about occupying Unit 2 within the new development. The proposed premises offer an opportunity to create something beyond a traditional blinds showroom — plans begin taking shape for FRO.home: a new interiors destination bringing together window furnishings, wallpaper, paint and complementary home products.
22 June 2026
Construction underway
Telford & Wrekin Council announces that construction of the replacement building is progressing. The development will provide new commercial space and four residential apartments as part of Wellington's wider regeneration programme. Local contractor Pave Aways is delivering the building works.
Summer 2026
Designing FRO.home
As construction progresses, work begins on planning the new showroom. The concept evolves from a traditional window furnishings retailer into a broader interiors destination — combining FRO's established made-to-measure blinds, curtains and shutters with wallpaper, paint, fabrics and home accessories.
September – October 2026
The building takes shape
Construction progresses through the structural stages. Steelwork, floors, external brickwork, internal partitions and roofing begin transforming the site into a recognisable building, while FRO continues developing plans for the interior layout and customer experience.
10 October 2026
Farewell, Market Street
After five years, FRO.blinds closes its original Wellington showroom. The closure marks the end of one chapter, but not the end of FRO's presence in Wellington — the business continues operating from its Shrewsbury showroom and Telford factory showroom, where customers can arrange appointments. Preparations continue for the opening of FRO.home at Walker Street.
Winter 2026/27
Coming soonWelcome to FRO.home
The new Wellington showroom is expected to open during winter 2026/27. FRO.home will bring together window furnishings, interiors inspiration and home products in a new purpose-designed retail environment. This timeline will be updated as construction and fit-out progress.
We're not quite ready to welcome you to our new home.
But we'd love to come and visit you in yours.
Our new Wellington showroom is taking shape. In the meantime, FRO.blinds continues to operate from our Shrewsbury showroom and Telford factory showroom.
